American playwright Arthur Miller was the maker behind the theatrical tragedy The Crucible furthermore being responsible for the fundamentals of leading character John Proctor. The Crucible is a play written during the time of the Salem Witch Trials that portrays the life of John Proctor and other leading characters. John Proctor cheated on his wife with Abigail Williams, John's wife Elizabeth is accused of witchcraft by Abigail in hopes of getting John all to herself. The outcome of the play characterizes John as a tragic hero considering John would not sign the fabricated confession along with refusing to settle in the trial for the sake of others and finally that John died and innocent man of his conviction.
Lack of self control over lust is a common flaw that John Proctor undergoes, his attraction to Abigail triggers the chaos in Salem.
