Lack of self control over lust is a common flaw that John Proctor undergoes, his attraction to Abigail triggers the chaos in Salem. In reference to John Proctor committing adultery in a puritan society was completely frowned upon sometimes punishable. John is a good man nevertheless every person has a flaw although his is more serious resulting in his death. In another citation John is given a path to escape the prison and to be with his family in exchange for a written confession of a crime he did not commit, he declined the offer and chose to die.
