While time goes on, culture changes as well causing the society to communicate much differently. For example, the 1980s taught the world parenting towards children is a necessity because children need their mom and dad. Although The Cosby Show displays the parents at work a lot, but, whenever the children needed support from their parents they are always there. In addition, the upbeat family, and the 1980s American Culture teaches many lessons which The Cosby Show emulates. In like manner, when issues occur throughout the family, everyone comes together to solve them. For example, Cliff and Denise sat down Erica and Erika due to the mishap of the stolen clothing item, which resulted in a lesson to never take things without asking. In comparison, the families of the two eras both follow the traditional style of having a family. An example would be how the family is structured by having two parents and children. However, the culture between the two-time periods expresses their love for the family members. In the 1950s, parents are more focused on themselves and not so much for the children, but in 1980s, the culture is very kid-focused. Another similarity the 50s and 80s have in common is how if the parents ever had issues, it would never result in divorce. The way the 50s handled their problems are very different than the way families in the 80s handled their problems. For example, in the 50s, if a serious issue occurred, the family would not talk about it and just let the time pass it on by. But the way the 1980s handled their problems was through a sit-down conversation and coming to good terms with one another to make it right.
