Physical health, emotional health, social health, spiritual health, and mental health must all be fulfilled and are all integral parts of a person’s wellness. Health promotion is a way to educate clients not only on their current health status, but also to give them the knowledge reduce risk behaviors that may predispose them to certain conditions and illnesses. It’s important to have a participating approach in the community and inform the public of potential risk behaviors they could be engaging in, that could harm them and not only affect their lives, but the lives of others around them. It is ideal to implement ways to educate others on topics; such as, the importance of having a healthy nutritious diet, the risks of smoking and substance abuse, the importance of exercising and having good sleep, how crucial it is to have yearly check-ups in order to learn about their current health status, prevent illnesses from developing, and be screened/tested for possible current conditions. Nurses as Activists/Proactive change agents: People’s environment and workplace can impose hazards they’re unaware of. In order to prevent unpleasant situations from happening, educational programs and community assessments must be implemented. Some potential hazards include: chemicals, firearms that aren’t stored properly, unsupervised pools, backyard hazards, carbon monoxide, leaving the stove on, using the blow drier close to the bathtub, among others. Nurses as educators: Biologically, genes predisposes individuals to certain diseases. Nurses must be able to educate individuals on how these genes could have been passed on
