Men in this culture are dominate, they have wealth; and their sons are valued if it’s a male. Women are seen as only care givers, but do duties to take care of their children. Women are seen as the obedient ones, who must do all the households and cleaning as well as chores. Many women in this society are treated unfairly because they either grew up in poverty or cannot be economically supportive. Life in India is not an easy come by the women living their because many young women are forced to get burned alive, although it’s a symbolic image of saintly. These women as treaded badly in this society because they face a cultural problem of getting burned alive. Women in India described as Bhatt, Ela R states (pg 23) “The condition of being poor, of being self-employed, and of being a woman are all distinct yet interrelated states of vulnerability.” The native American society respect their elders because they are the wise one who know important information from the past and they are known to be well informed with pasted knowledge that can help the younger generation understand them. In the political aspects of matriarchy women play an important role of managing their power in office. Anthropologist believe that there’s no societies commonly played out as matriarchal since female play out important roles for the households for an example taking care of kids, wash clothes, cooking dinner, and structuring the family. Women take on the feministic roles that the males have no time for. Matriarchies still exist. The cultures that still carry this tradition are the Minangkabau, Akan, and Garo. These cultures run a matrilineal society because the women are the dominate ones over the males. Women in this society are better at managing the household and with economics. They get to choose who they want and manage the house hold. In the fight for independence the Sikh religion from India had to challenge the British forces to liberate themselves from western control. The British fought for control in the state of Panjab where it is said to be the city of rebellion against the Durbar court they would be less outnumbered by the Sikh army but the British had a disadvantage over their leadership, influence, and occupying them due to their supply of resources.
