This drastic change in the acceptance of gay marriage can be attributed to the access of internet and instant information in today’s society. The internet can help the cause of gay marriage legalization because the internet can dispel myths that spread around like the rumor that HIV/AIDS is a “gay virus” even though that is not the case. The reason this is a risk to the United States is mainly due to the fact that a divide could form between the two different viewpoints that would most likely end in a stalemate. Complete acceptance of gay marriage will never take place due to the polar opposite viewpoints and the lack of middle ground in the debate.
