Nicotine is a stimulant that affects the CNS (central nervous system). It works differently on different areas of the brain, which is why people can say that nicotine both gets me going and relaxes me. People’s bodies quickly get used to nicotine. As this happens, they have to smoke more and more to get the same effects. If smokers choice to stop smoking, a lot of the smokers will have withdrawal symptoms. Smoking should not be taken up because your friends are smoking, in all honesty, it should not be taken up at all. Many students are smoking because of stress which they peer pressure their friends into smoking. A lot of the time’s the “cool kids” have parties and you are not invited unless you smoke cigarettes.
