From the acquirement of guns to the amount of shootings and the stability of citizen this is a huge problem. She states“ there is no good or easy way to get Americans have to voluntarily surrender their guns.” Citizen acquirement with guns is not only a worldwide problem but a state issue as well. Shiha states that “there are approximately three hundred million guns in the country. If the government wanted to take these weapons away from citizens it would have already been done. If something like that was to occur it would cause even more damage and distress to the world. Outbreaks would occur and shortly after that the deaths of innocent or not innocent people would start to tally up. If they were going to take them away they would just find a way to obtain them whether it's legal or not. Mental and physical stability is something that should also be addressed. Gun control is one of many contemporary social problems that has created a lot of controversy and disagreement between a variety of groups in the United States. Underlying this issue as well as others is the Conflict Theory, one of the few traditions highlighted by Randall Collins in his book, Four Sociological Traditions. Disagreements can arise from individual beliefs that end up opposing one another, and once these conflicts reach their tipping point, one side become alienated, and change begins to be fought for. In the present day, there is so much disagreement that it makes the Conflict Theory one of the most relevant traditions for explaining and understanding society as it currently is due to the constant disagreements between people.…

Gun control is one of many contemporary social problems that has created a lot of controversy and disagreement between a variety of groups in the United States. Underlying this issue as well as others is the Conflict Theory, one of the few traditions highlighted by Randall Collins in his book, Four Sociological Traditions. Conflict occurs when individual beliefs oppose one another, and if these disagreements reach a tipping point, one side can become alienated, prompting a demand for change in order to overcome the alienation. This sentiment resonates true with Karl Marx, as Collins states that in Marx’s time, “contradiction existed in the material system… which would eventually bring about the system’s downfall and the ushering of a new stage” (1994:52).…

When an aspiring mass murderer cannot get their hands on a gun or weapon they usually obtain it by an outside source be it illegal trade, black market, etc. People no matter how powerful are never going to be able to stop the illegal exchange of anything be it weapons to drugs or whatever. This is a counter to the solution of harsher gun regulations because there is no way to regulate something that is not allowed in the first place. Just like the people who believe in the banning of firearms in the states, that strategy simply cannot solve each area of conflict. What can be done however is the cracking down on illegal firearm trade, which is infinitely easier said than done, but it will probably not completely solve the issue.…

Had citizens been able to defend themselves, many lives would have been saved. Yet another valid example is the country of Mexico, having very tight gun laws it still has a staggering number of 160,000 dead from gun violence since the year of 2007. If these restrictions do not function in other countries, how are they expected to work in the U.S.? As of 2014, 2.5 million crimes were stopped by firearms. This is then compared to the 8,124 murders that took place the very same year.…

It is 100% impossible to confiscate millions of weapons, but if we could put a few restrictions on purchasing guns, and using guns we could reduce the crime rate by at least half(Nraila.org). Instead of us focusing on gay marriage laws we need to be focusing on gun control and protecting our country. Our biggest enemy is ourselves. We inflict so much crime and violence on ourselves, it is unbelievable. We sell weapons to people who shouldn’t be allowed to posses a weapon.…

62% of the 31,000 deaths caused by a gun are suicides (Cornell 2). According to Arthur L. Kellerman, MD, “residents of homes where a gun is present are 5 times more likely to experience a suicide than residents of homes without guns” (A Case for Gun Control). I have experienced the effects of suicide within my own family. One month ago, my cousin Marisa committed suicide. She was 26 years old and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia a few years prior to the tragic incident.…

Going back to the idea that the government could take away all the firearms from civilians, we have to face the fact that even that would not protect anyone. Instead, it would put many people in danger. The law to take away guns would not affect criminals, because criminals do not follow the law. Without guns for protection, the law-abiding citizens would be helpless to defend themselves against the criminals who would now be the only citizens with guns. The law that was meant to protect would actually lead to the victimization and possible death of law-abiding citizens.…

The Government cannot simply solve this problem by the way of the gun ban. Just implementing gun control does not fundamentally solve the problem. In the article “Just Take Away Their Guns”, James Q. Wilson wrote that “The National Rifle Association and its allies tell us that "guns don 't kill, people kill" and urge the Government to punish more severely people who use guns to commit crimes” (Wilson, 127). The National Rifle Association and its allies told is very reasonable. The mistake of homicide case is the people want to kill someone, not what weapon he used.…

In America, there is a growing perception that guns are: they are harmful, they kill, and they commit crimes, and so most guns should be banned. But, how can a gun kill or commit crimes; it is not a living thing, it is a tool. With the use of guns, America has grown to be a strong and independent country throughout history. The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…

In recent years, a lot of debate had been going on about the laws pertaining to firearms. Unfortunately, with all of the mass shootings and killings being reported by the media, guns are given a bad reputation. Sadly, many people believe that they should be illegal because they are dangerous and can kill people, but what these people don’t realize is making them illegal will do a lot more harm than good. Guns have created a balance in society and if we were to take them away it could cause a lot of chaos which would result in more crime and more casualties. People deserve the right to bear arms because with proper training one could possibly save his/her life and also protect others.…
