In Domingo’s family there have been a history of drug and alcoholic abuse. His parents don’t really get involved in his life when that happens. They tend to turn a blind eye when it comes to that. They pretty much let their kids deal what they have to deal with. With Mexican families the kids are pretty much taught to toughen up doe the real world. The real world isn’t rainbows and sunshine it is hard and tough and waits for no one. That their kids need to realize that not everything in the world is easy and that they have to work hard for what they want in life.
Just Like Us: This is a story about four girls living the United States. Which every single one of them have dealt with being illegal in the United States. Many of them are dealing with the senior year of high school and everything that comes with it. Especially when it comes down to what these girls want to do with their futures. All of these girls want to have a bright future and to be able to have the chance to go to a top college and to better their lives. These girls have been working hard all through out high school to get the grades and extra curricular activities in order to get accepted into college. Yet, the one of the main thing is stopping them from going is getting the money to be able to go to college. In the United States you have to be a citizen of the United States in order to receive any sort of federal aid and to be able to have instate tuition with instate schools. Yet with two of the girls Marisela and Yadira do not have green cards or United States citizenship. While their friends Elissa who was born in the United States and Clara who has a green card.
