There were no battlefields and no bloody bodies. Americans did not had to hide to keep safe from the enemies and they did not see their loved ones die in front of them. America could not know what war was like, because it was too devastating to know about it. Only soldiers and the government knew what was actually happening on the battlefield.
Even today we could say there are still consequences of such actions carried out by propaganda. If close attention is given, we can see that the American people lean towards a greater sense of patriotism and tend to respect those who serve in the military. In conclusion, Adams point on American propaganda was correct. Many Americans believed by heart that it was something beautiful and something to be proud of. Of course, American government did not release the truth about the war because it was not in their favor. This war became the bread and butter of the American people. Propaganda was everywhere and movies exhibited the soft side of war, which infatuated the public creating a romantic theme.
