If a solution is to be found, I will not be surprised to see every major city in the world switching over to solar energy. Sufficient funding should be committed to solar energy research so we can harness renewable energy more efficiently as soon as possible. The result of urban development is more buildings, and more people. Consequently, more energy will be needed. The availability of non-renewable resources will decrease exponentially, while simultaneously, pollution from the use of non-renewable resources will increase. By committing to using more renewable energy now, expenses on ever-increasing non-renewable resources can be saved, and future generations will have reliable energy generation methods should the supply of non-renewable resources is not able to meet the demand. Admittedly, the funding that I asked for seems much less than what is needed. My professional opinion is that the best idea is for the government to first test out my sustainability plan on a smaller scale. Of the $132 million invested, $7 million will be invested towards a new fleet of 10 hybrid …show more content…
McKee, and the other government members will take my proposal into heavy consideration, and will invest $132 million dollars into sustainable development and a brighter future. I wish for the Government to send me regular updates, and I will remain available for contact at all times. The three critical elements of my plan -eliminating automobiles, building vertically, using more solar power- not only promotes urban growth, but makes Ottawa more environmentally friendly. Sustainable development in Ottawa’s downtown core will allow the city to house a larger population, without taking up any more additional land space. Building a more sustainable downtown core now means future generations, like our children, will not be tasked with having to find solutions to urban sprawl and climate change with nothing to build off of. Let us take the initiative of making a change for the better. Let us be sustainable now, so that there can actually be a
