and instead, they became office aides. I was one of them, except I worked in the school library. My job there was to put books back on the shelves, make sure all the books were in the right place, and check books in and out to other students. The librarian, Mrs. Weatherholt, had just started that same year, so she helped me get really involved in the library. Because I had to put all the books away, I was introduced to so many books I never would have thought to give a second glance at. For example, I really got involved in reading books about ghosts and witches like, Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins and The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright. Also, Mrs. Weatherholt always had me get involved in the book fairs and to find suggestions for new books to get added to the library, so I was always being exposed to fresh and different reading …show more content…
We would sit right beside each other in bed and do nothing, but read. We would compete to see who could read more of their book or who could finish first. She always won because she was faster at reading and would usually stay up later than me at night just to finish her book. Once we read through all of our own books, we would exchange and read each other’s books. We would get to the point where we would run out of books to read so we would go to this small used book store near my grandparent’s house and sell our books and pick out new ones. If we couldn’t find any there, we would go to the public library and check out multiple books at a time. We would get so passionate about what we were reading and it would be so fun to share our thoughts with one another like we had our on personal book club. I believe that without these people in my life, I never would have developed the interest I have in the various stories that can be found amongst the pages of books. I am so glad I had people who encouraged me to dive into the fantasies that the authors painted into the form of published
