Some state parks actually prohibit mountain bikers on some trails because they feel like they mess up the vegetation of the trail and can cause it to die and not grow back. “study has compared bicycling with other recreation with regard to the damage to vegetation caused by trampling.”(American Trails) Eden Thurston attended University of Guelph, and set up two identical trails. One for mountain biking and one for hiking, in the outcome the hiking trail, vegetation was only decreased on the outer of the trail by about 30 cm, the mountain biking trail was almost identical to those stats but there wasn’t enough data to decide if it affects the vegetation. “These studies just scratch the surface of a complex topic. The diversity of species and their differing responses to human recreation make generalizations across species difficult. However, this group of studies at least suggests that the impacts of bicycling on wildlife are generally similar to the effects of hiking.”(American Trails) During my experience in mountain biking, I have only came across a couple Bears, Rattlesnakes, Moose and Mountain Lion tracks in 10 years riding. My dad and members of our mountain bike club have encountered mountain lions and bears also. In my opinion hikers and mountain bikers all have the chance of encountering wildlife, but for the vegetation I …show more content…

Most people including people that I know, say that e-bike riders are lazy riders, because they don’t technically ride the uphill and just descend. In this article they did several tests including the different speeds while descending, speeds while inclining, and the overall build of the bike. They took two bikes, one normal enduro mountain bike, and one e-bike. They took both bikes and went on a 2 hour enduro race trail, timing both speeds while descending and inclining, and their heart rate during that time. “Obviously an e-bike will climb faster than a traditional mountain bike, it does have a motor after all, but are they the “lazy person’s” bikes they’re made out to be?”(Dirt mountain bike) During the time of the incline with the e-bike, they monitored the heart rate and surprisingly the heart rate was close to the same of normally inclining with the enduro bike, yes the e-bike is faster and more efficient, but both require almost the same work. The Descend and build of the bikes vary in many ways. “The top sector to the minute mark comprised of medium speed, flat corners with lots of root, the terrain natural. The e-mtb even in ‘power off’ felt like it was carrying good momentum, the grip consistent and the exit speeds comparable, corner entry braking simply needed good management. Transferring to the mtb, the ride was more

The stories were genuine and provided several viewpoints to see the effectiveness of the organization. Michael presented well, the only area I would like to have known more about is, the history behind the organization and therapeutic techniques.…
