At the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School, one-hundred percent of the students that graduate go to some form of a four year college (“JCIB”). In life many jobs, including those of lower requirements, require candidates to have a college degree. From the fact that all of the students that graduate from this school go to four year colleges, if your child comes to this school he or she will get a degree of some form (“JCIB”). According to the principle of Shades Valley High School, Mary Beth Blankenship, the mission of both high schools, Shades Valley and JCIB, is to, “prepare students with the skills necessary to become college and career ready” (“Mission Statement”). This statement stands true from the many lessons that students learn at the school. At the JCIB school, the students have to face many challenges from the extended essay to internal assessments. Although these are tough challenges that the students have to face, they teaches them many invaluable lessons. One of the lessons that is taught to the students is never to give up. At this school there are many times that students are overwhelmed, but similar to what happens in the real world, they do not give up when faced with challenges. This gets them prepared for the duties they will receive later on in life. Along with this lesson, the JCIB school also teaches them to ask for help from their peers or teachers, which builds the students social skills, as well as their relationship and communication skills. In addition to getting your children prepared for the future ahead of them and getting exceptional standardized test scores, when your child goes to the JCIB program, he or she are more likely to succeed in many advanced classes.
