Isaiah: The Beauty And Character Of Jesus

Improved Essays
In this paper, I will be illustrating through Isaiah the beauty and character of Jesus. I will be doing this by looking at the aspects of Jesus ' beauty as the Bridegroom, King, and Jesus beauty as the Servant of all, and Anointed Conqueror. "In that day the Branch of the LORD shall be beautiful and glorious…" Isaiah 4:2. The clearest Old Testament narrative of the revelation of the messianic redeemer as Bridegroom, King, and Judge is found in Isaiah 61-63. "For Jerusalem 's sake, I will not rest until her righteousness goes forth as brightness… You shall also be a Crown of glory...and a royal diadem in the hand of your God…you shall be called Hephzibah… for the Lord delights in you…as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you… The Lord has sworn by His right…"Surely I will no longer give your grain as food for your enemies…prepare the way for the people… Build up the highway!...the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the world…Your salvation is coming; Behold, His reward is with Him." (Isaiah 62:1-11) and "Who is this coming from Edom…this One (Jesus) who is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength?...Why is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?...I have trodden them (Nations) in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have stained all My robes. The day of vengeance is in My heart, and the Year of My redeemed has come." (Isaiah 63:1-4) The passionate Bridegroom, Jesus is revealed as the One with burning longing for His people. (4, 54, 62), "Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. For the LORD has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a youthful wife when you were refused," says your God... (Isa. 54:4-6). Walking in freedom from fear and shame is established in seeing God as the Bridegroom God. The reason why we can walk in freedom if we look at God rightly in this way is First because "Your maker is your husband" He is our maker. The very creator of the universe and everything in it is the husband of His people. Second "Lord of hosts" He is the captain of the armies of heaven and these armies will destroy all obstacles against us. Thirdly "redeemer", He paid the ultimate price so that none can accuse us before God (Romans 8:31-39). Fourthly "God of the whole earth", No one can escape His rule and authority, and finally, "Holy One", He is the Holy, eternally superior to all others, and forever he will fascinate us. As we encounter the Bridegroom God we move into confidence in love and live a shame-free existence. Because we have a God who desires us, goes to war for us, providers for us, and will always protect us. "Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; they will see the land that is very far off." Isaiah 33:17. The Beauty of the Bridegroom King, the primary way that Jesus is revealed in Isaiah is the beautiful …show more content…
32:24-32). The name Israel literally means "Prince with God." Jesus ' servanthood is the perfect embodiment of that, all that God called Israel and the nations to be like. The Father ordained that Jesus is a servant of the people who hated and detested Him. Jesus was not affronted at Israel 's rejection but continued to be a servant to them. In the millennial kingdom, He will rule over all nations as the Servant of all the rulers of the nations. "Thus says the Lord (the Father)…to Him (Jesus) whom man despises, to Him whom the nation (Israel) abhors, to the Servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord (the Father) who is faithful…has chosen You." Isaiah

Prophetic Jesus, Prophetic Church is a book written by Thomas Johnson. Johnson wrote this book to challenge taking the Luke-Acts Christianity into contemporary Christianity. The challenge is that the church would have an ear to hear its prophetic calling. The overall purpose of the book is to offer a scriptural foundation for the ministry of the church so that it is grounded and coherent in the ministry of Jesus. Johnson argues that Luke and Acts, presents Jesus and the apostles in terms of prophecy.…

It explains Jesus’s role on Earth. He is announcing the coming of the Kingdom of God. Thus Bartholomew and Goheen go on to say, “Thus with the background of Isaiah Jesus proclaims to the Jews the fulfillment of the good news of the prophet Isaiah. At the same time with the language of the imperial cult he announces to the Roman world that the good news for the world began not with Caesar Augustus but with Jesus the Jewish Messiah, the true Son of God (144).” By this Jesus then shows not just the Jewish faith, but also the world that the Kingdom of God was on Earth.…

When you walk into a church you may realize that there are serval paintings, but what you may have not noticed is their significance. If you look at each painting closely you may notice that they tell a story. The Nativity with the Prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel is a piece of art history which uses iconography and religion to create a narrative. The Nativity is not only a piece of art, but it also is an altarpiece. Since an altar is where offerings for a church are held, the images that appeared on the altarpiece carry the most significance.…

The stories of Jesus are represented through the four New Testament Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each Gospel emphasizes on particular principles that represent Jesus differently. Jesus is seen as the suffering Messiah in all four Gospels, but each Evangelist puts in his own intake, hence expanding on the original Markan portrait of Jesus. The writers of the Gospels give their own theological assertions, and understandings, which in effect creates a new portrait of Jesus for each Gospel. The Gospel portraits vary and represent a different and evolving view of Jesus’, stories, and traditions over time.…
