Pirrello, a critic for TheWrap, stated that “The death of Emma Stone’s character, Gwen Stacy, is arguably the film’s best, most earned emotional beat” (Pirrello 2014). The relationship between Gwen and Peter seemed to be the only thing the audience cared about in the movie. Without that emotional bond, there was nothing to hold the franchise together. From the weak character motivations to the unexplained plot holes, the film did not have a clear message. This movie also tried to cram in the Sinister Six, without giving proper character development for each member. The Rhino's extremely brief appearance in this movie was completely wasted on the fact that he only existed to set up future movies. With the unfavorable reviews, lower ratings on IMdb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, and a worldwide gross of about $50 million less than its predecessor, Sony was led to cancel any future

The reading Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter, by Tom Bissel addresses change within video games and how these games have changed and how they affect the author. Video games have gone through a major change within recent times and have evolved from simple button mashing games with very uncomplicated themes and narrative to something much more complex. Modern technology has allowed video games to vastly improve storytelling and visuals by allowing much more content to be stored in medium; therefore, video game developers have much more creative freedom and can develop deep and interesting worlds. The technological limitations of past are consistently being surpassed and this is good news for all gamers.…

Authors write stories that have a similar theme with similar characters and settings. We can often judge if we like one book by an author, we will like other books by that author as well. Take Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel American Born Chinese. The novel has three casts of characters, all who tell a similar story about identity and sense of self. The monkey king who tries to prove his worth by becoming like a god and hence not like a monkey, mirrors jin a young chinese american boy growing up in an american school wishing to be like his white classmates. Along with that there are obvious parallels to the sitcom “everyone ruvs chin-kee” a show about a white american high schooler whose reputation is ruined by his visiting chinese cousin and the other two stories. All these sections overlap with each other conceptually and, later in the novel, plot wise.…

Video games are arguably even less associated with storytelling than comics are, with some critics believing “that the video-game form is incompatible with traditional concepts of narrative” (Bissel, 93). Where the medium truly excels, however, is with its capacity for immersion. Like how the addition of sound allowed filmgoers to not just watch the action but hear it, “Every new medium that has been invented … has increased the transporting power of narrative” (Rose, 36). Where readers of books and viewers of movies are passive, gamers take an active role in their narratives. In games like Mass Effect this means making key decisions that affect the development of the plot, but in games like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and The Last of Us, this…

All of this adds to the individualization of video games. Games are not created with the intent of being shared between multiple physical people. At most, they are created with the intent of it being shared between two physical people. But for the most part, games are designed to be used by one player who then interacts with other players…

Keiko Nobumoto, for example, was a Japanese screenwriter for popular anime such as Cowboy Bebop, but she also worked on popular games like Kingdom Hearts. Likewise, animator Yoshinori Kanada, who is best known for his work on Birth, one of the first original video animations to be released to the market, also worked in the widely popular Final Fantasy series. Oftentimes, possessing similar developers also lead to crossovers, in that games and anime would be made in response to the popularity of the other. The popular martial arts anime Fist of the North Star, for instance, would eventually inspire the popular fighting game, Street Fighter. Sometimes, it would go one step further than just being inspired one another, a popular video game would be made into an anime, or vice versa.…

Amongst those traits they include the love interest between different girls, the altered way they produce their web, and the identical way he loses his uncle. To begin with, the love interest that goes on with the main character Peter Parker and the girl he is passionate for between these two movies is highly unalike.…

The most common character within a video game is the background character. Although background characters might not be overly important when creating narrative focuses or moving the game’s plot along, good background characters help to populate the video game’s narrative world. Having good background characters can mean the difference between having a believable narrative or one that falls flat. The game’s avatar cannot support the whole game world on their own and background characters take much of the narrative weight by performing needed roles sometimes as small as filling space. The background characters within visual novels are extremely important for many of the same reasons.…
