Arbin Shiwakoti Professor Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306 27th September 2017 RUNNING FOR SENATE REPRESENTING DEMOCRATIC PARTY Texas is the second largest state in the United States of America. Controlling the second largest state of US is a real big deal. To run this state and its components the Texas government has been divided into three main branches, the legislative, executive, and judicial branch of government. “The legislative branch consists of house and the senate who are chiefly responsible for making laws, regulate commerce, control taxes, declare war, etc. 1 The executive branch consists of President including his/her advisors and agencies and is responsible for enforcing the laws of the land. The judicial branch consists

These clauses are meant for the government officials to limit their power and to eliminate fraud and corruption among the government officials. “In practical use, the authority to take a given action rests with one department, while the responsibility to verify the appropriateness and legality of that action rests with another.” (https://www.thoughtco.com/separation-of-powers-3322394). Interest groups and other political parties also have much to do with the politics of Texas. They try to influence people by their goals and objectives and try to organize individuals with similar interests and associating the state to the national political system. They influence the individuals through lobbying, petitions, media campaigns and many other categories that will help the political groups to get people into their party so that they can get more support from the common people to advance their …show more content…
The issues that I stand with as I will run as a democrat senate are proportional tax system, equal employment opportunities to all the residents of the state and government support for the education of the youths as well as interested people who cannot afford to pay their tuition. Going through the party platform of the democrats, it is overall agreeable and consists of every detail of rules and laws that would be required for the smooth flow of the political environment as well as the residents. My ideas of equal employment opportunities ang support for education align with the party platform of the democratic party platforms. Whereas, my idea of proportional tax system diverges from that of the party platform as they have a progressive tax system. This idea of proportional tax system should be added on the party platform as it gives all the tax payers to pay the taxes depending n how much they make. For instance, making a 10% tax payment by the rich, middle class and poor gives all three categories of people equal opportunities to pay tax depending on how much they earn. I also conclude that, this idea of proportional tax system will help me get elected on the senate as most of the people will surely come in this favor of my idea of proportional tax

What did the Texans say? Texas officially declared its secession from the United States of America on February 1, 1861. They then joined the Confederate States on March 2, 1861 after replacing Sam Houston (who would not pledge his allegiance with the Confederacy) with Edward Clark as governor. The secession was decided in the Texas Secession Convention where delegates chose in a vote of 166 to 8 for secession. So why did the delegates overwhelmingly vote for secession and war?…

The power is divided among statewide elected officials of other states (Braden: 1977). These and other factors stress the need to rewrite the Texas Constitution. Looking at the Texas split Executive branch or plural executive it has for the most part had mixed reviews. On one hand it does afford the people a bit more say in state politics and divides power ensuring there is no one source of failure. However it has also been criticized for its lack of efficiency when it comes to decision making due to multiple parties failing to come to a decision. However the plural executive is a popular choice in many states and seems to regulate power effectively. For this reason I would not change Texas’s current plural executive branch system.…

We can clearly see that the Texas governor is not near to being a powerful government official. And that the governor is no where near to being treated like a ‘mini president’ when it comes to governing the state. If the governor were to have more power, the governor would surely become more effective when it comes to certain bills or policies. However, for the kind of political culture that Texas has, the governor should not be able to have full on control and suddenly become the strongest governor in the nation. But as for now, we will next examine some of the historical reasons that will tell us why the Texas governor is so weak and how the governor’s position became to be so…

The Annexation of Texas The annexation of Texas by the United States remains a controversial topic to this day. Occurring in 1845, it caused a great uproar amongst the citizens of the United States and Texas. The main question when debating the annexation of Texas is how it affected slavery. Indeed, and because the annexation of slavery served to extend the area in which slavery would be allowed, this caused a situation in which it shifted the balance of power away from the North and towards the South in relation to the question of slavery.…

I believe Texas wouldn’t even make it in a week they would need a lot of help in every way possible, financially, with the military or army, with their own currencies, and with political loss. If Texas even tried to become its own country they will lose money, no citizens would get any help from the government and some families would starve to death, they might lose jobs even people for example some immigrants help us financially and if they see a big change they would either move to a different state from the United States, or they would go back to their own country. Some companies or business people could lose their customers because of this, a lot of people only like to deal with people from the United States, but the moment they see Texas…

In the last decade or so, many important issues that were debated did not have much of an impact on local communities. However, one issue that is being debated today that will directly affect local communities is the policy on illegal immigration and how to control it. As we all know, immigrants looking for a new beginning founded this country and it has since been known as the country of second chances. The thought of the American Dream is what convinced so many people in centuries past to immigrate to America. This same reason is why today in America there are a large number of legal and illegal immigrants hoping to achieve this same dream.…
