This characteristic can be defined as the process of two boundaries being crossed and it can be represented in many forms.
An art work that depict this characteristic of today’s elements of advertisements is The Tom Ford for Men Fragance (2007)(Fig.1) by the American fashion and portrait photographer Terry Richardson (1965-present).
In Terry Richardson’s photography (Fig.1) is portrayed a thin and naked woman with a fragrance between her legs. This publicity promotes a fragrance only used by men. Besides the physical properties of this art work; the purpose of this advertisement is to make men believe that if they purchase this product, women are going to have sexual relations with them. As a matter of fact, Richardson’s work is showing that women are nothing more than a sexual object. Not to mention that the meaning of the image does not depict the purpose of the product, making it clear that boundaries are being crossed.

As a matter of fact, Media is part of our daily lives and this art expression it’s responsible for many ideas and stereotypes that influence men and women in our society. This medium should be used as a tool for making positive changes in our minds instead of promoting bad and unhealthy behaviors.
