Technical colleges have different admission requirements than universities and the qualifications are not as stringent. These easier admission criteria appeal to different people. Most technical schools accept General Education Development (G.E.D) Certificates or a high school diplomas to qualify for admission while many universities will only accept students who have a high school diploma as well as a certain GPA. Most traditional universities will frown upon students having a G.E.D, because they believe that this is a lower form of education. Students who perform poorly on American College Testing (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) most likely will not be accepted into a traditional college or university. Their low test marks, however, is not a true measure of their potential because they may have other skills and talents that technical colleges recognize. Technical colleges see beyond test scores and grades, and welcome students from all backgrounds to develop their skills and pursue their passion.
