Understanding tattoos and why a person gets one, is a solid base to start with as well as the history of where they come from and, the ways we have integrated them into our society today. While I cannot say why anyone would get a tattoo of a serial killer, I can say having tattoos are still somewhat of a taboo and in higher social status and professional environments are not greeted lightly still today, although I do see that changing further into the future. As the generations of people pass and standards change I think tattooing will be more widely accepted. I think people are fascinated with serial killers because the acts that they have committed are so jarring to society as a whole. To me, serial killers are fascinating because of how so many of them are able to continually keep up a façade in their everyday lives, and then commit acts so heinous at the same time. For example, Ted Bundy was a student at the University of Utah law school by day but would murder and commit necrophilia in Emigration Canyon by night. It is interesting how many of these people are able to go undetected for such long periods of time because of how well they blend in with society, even though there is something wrong with them. The act of serial killing itself helps to reinstate how impactful it is to take a person’s…

We are fascinated not only because of their minds but because they feed into our fears about danger, death and what lurks in the night, around the corner, at the playground and even at something as innocent as a child's birthday party. There are many to choose from. One more twisted and grotesque in their savagery than the next.…

A lot of people want to blame the parents of the offenders, asking “what did you turn your child into?” 36% of serial killers were physically abused, 26% were sexually abused, and 50% were psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). Many people have logically come to the conclusion that just because someone is abused, it does not mean that they will become a serial killer; or even a murderer; which is true. In the general population (people who have never committed murder) only 6% are physically abused, 3% are sexually abused, and 2% are psychologically abused (Mitchell and Aamodt 45). The dramatic difference of abuse frequency between people who are serial killers and people who are not seems evident enough to support that serial killers are created.…
