Art should not be obscene words or even pictures. Some art can offend people. A painting that comes to mind is The Holy Virgin Mary painting by Chris Ofili. This painting consists of body parts all around Virgin Mary. This could possibly make religious people angry or even uncomfortable. This works the same way with tattoos as well. In general, tattoos already have a stigma associated with them. Tattoos with curse words, or disgrace to religious standards have resulted in almost all tattoos being shamed upon. Obscene words and pictures still take time and effort; however, they do not contain any meaning nor are they creative or unique. This clarifies that most things are considered art, but offending people on purpose with no meaning behind it is not.
All things considered, tattoos are a form of art. Art is creative, unique, and a lot of time and effort goes into it. However, it should not be offensive in a sense that threatens religion or contains the use of violent words because that is what gave tattoos a stigma to begin with. Older people have the most resentment regarding tattoos because they were raised differently than we are today, but art is used as an expression of yourself even though it is potentially permanent on your body.
