The most resent oil spill has affected the shipping companies we use for transporting our merchandise from our vendors to our distribution centers. This disaster is going to cause supply chain issues and we will see our expenses increase and our gross margin negatively impacted. This disaster will result in merchandise being out of stock at store level causing a in loss of sales. An increase in transportation costs will be seen as alternate methods of getting the product are used. This inability to have product on our shelves will lead to customer concerns and we need to avoid having our customers going to our competitors.
Customer retention is essential to Target’s success. Team members need to be ready to offer solutions to customers who
