“One if by land, and two if by sea.” Many people may associate this famous line with Paul Revere because that’s what they learned in history class, but what many of those people don’t know is that Paul Revere had never said that line at all. But, despite the poem being based on Raul Revere’s deposition, there are many inaccuracies. So instead, the poem should be used in a Language Arts classroom and not a history classroom.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Tragic turn of life Loss, pain and suffering are stepping stones, slowly building and shaping an individual’s life. These tragic events help transform life, in sometimes drastic ways, that it has the power to mold and often determine one’s destiny itself. In the book, The Other Side of the Bridge, Mary Lawson incorporates this by demonstrating how tragic events continuously play a major role in shaping the destiny of the central characters. Despite the fact that traumatic events scar Ian Christopherson and Arthur Dunn for life, these incidents help them achieve what fate has set in store for them. On the contrary, such events cause a drift in the lives of two brothers, Jake Dunn and Arthur Dunn, defying whatever had been predestined for them.…

Elementary years are a crucial time for learning and molding ideas into a young child’s mind. As young scholars, they are taught basic information on all subjects such as science, math, reading/writing, and social studies. Social studies, for instance, is a great example of how ideas are being presented to the young mind. Because many facts and ideas have been tweaked and changed, many young children and adolescents have incorrect information on several historical events. An example being, as a youngster we are given the image of Native Americans as uneducated, ruthless wild beings, sharecroppers, and essentially as barbarians.…
