2. Gorge takes off his handicaps to rest. He is forced to use them all day to debilitate himself and get extremely tired.
3. Harrison is in jail because the government can not control him. He is an athlete and a genius and not even ear pieces and bags can incapacitate him.

In this society equality means to be the same. You can not think for yourself and no one can be superior to others. To achieve this they place mechanisms and weights on people with advantages to debilitate them.
6. Harrison performs a dance with one of the ballerinas. This dance is grateful and beautiful. None of them have handicappers or are wearing masks. This dance is unlike other because ballerinas are sometimes covered to not show their beauty. Some fall midway through the dance due to the sharp noises they hear in their earpieces.
7. Hazel is a person with average intelligence for this period. This means she has very low intelligence for periods such as right now. One reason this might be is because she never makes an effort to improve. She sits in front of the TV and is easily manipulated by the government.
8. This author is criticizing various things. She mentions how competitive the world is and how we all fight to make it equal instead of trying to respect and live with our differences. She also criticizes how technology is taking over our lives by placing a character in front of the TV all day and by placing hurtfully technology in peoples’ ears. We live in a society were competition drives people to do incredible or horrible things. It can be both harmful and greatly beneficial. Harmful because people easily are taking away by it and do things that are morally incorrect. Still, competition is the reason people exceed in life. It is a motivation to create new things and think of new ideas. If all competition where taking away, I believe that the world would not be like in the story. Their would be no jobs, technology, etc. People would be boring and would have nothing to do because nothing would motivate them. In this story, ballerinas, news reporters and government officials exist. This means that in some way there is some kind of competition towards getting these jobs even though people do not think about it this way. If in reality competition was erased, nothing would drive
