How should Americans be fed? Is it through the industrial food chain or perhaps the hunter-gatherer food chain, nope none of them are as good as the local sustainable food chain. The industrial food chain is a chain where a single crop is grown in a big field and later ends up in places like supermarkets or fast-food restaurants. The hunter- gatherer food chain is just when one grows, hunts, or finds their own food. The local sustainable food chain is a chain where different kinds of crops and animals are raised in small farms. That delineates that it causes less pollution because fossil fuels pollutes the air and chemicals pollutes the air and land, so if there are no fossil fuels and chemicals needed that will greatly reduce pollution. That does prove a point of the local sustainable food being seasonal as a bad thing. But the author also says, “food actually tastes better when it is fresh, in season”. So that proves that it being seasonal is really a good thing because you get fresh food, which is good, and you’ll probably might never eat processed food which is also good for one’s health, although it might suck, it’s worth it.
