Due to the consistent burning of fossil fuels as an energy source for past centuries, the Earth has been experiencing an increase in global temperature and a variety of consequences as a result. One of the main causes of climate change is the exponential population growth occurring globally. As medicine and technology has improved, life expectancy has risen and parents are more inclined to raise larger families. However, a larger population requires more resources to be sustainable, which puts an increasing strain on natural resources. Despite this daunting trend of growth, there are a number of options to slow and possibly even halt rapid population increase.
