Social Darwinism is explained through concepts such as survival of the fittest and natural selection; both which are applied to human society. Survival of the fittest is the notion that those who are best adapted to their environment will thrive and continue to exist. This is observed in human society because those who are wise and understand how to properly manipulate the social, political, and economic systems will be more successful than those who do not have the same intellect. Natural selection coincides with survival of the fittest in saying those who are unfit will be unsuccessful and eliminated from the population. For example, a bear with claws will be more successful in the wild than a bear without claws because it can ward off enemies
