Skill building provides knowledge training, and exposure to new opportunities and skill development. An example of this is playing a single player first person shooter game, and learning what to do in order to go on with the game or the story. Video games build skills by requiring the player to use skills and knowledge gained from earlier challenges to complete later ones. This is because if a player cant complete …show more content…
The skills that are improved by the game Black Ops 3 spatial intelligence skills and visual attention skills. These skills are incorporated into the game through the design because of how fast-paced the game is. They are utilized in the game by the way that when you are advancing towards a certain position you are constantly scanning the immediate area for any targets that might halt you from accomplishing your task. It improves your perception of the map because as you are scanning you are looking for spots in which an enemy would be likely to hide and you are also noticing all the possible entrances that a combatant could make. This is also applicable to life because of you are in certain uncomfortable situations you will also look for any possible hiding spots or exits/ entrances for you to use in case of an emergency. The skills that this game builds has been proven to help people to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This is apparent because of all the decisions that you have to make within the actual games themselves. You can decide to make guns shoot faster or shoot slower which helps build your concept of science due to the fact that you get an understanding of what will happen to the damage of the guns if you put a silencer on the gun or if you do something to it that causes you to have to predict a new style of playing. You can also decide to throw grenades and other equipment, which builds your understanding of mathematics due to all the calculations like altitude and force that will get that equipment to a certain point. The game builds the idea of technology because of the movement that you are allowed to do in the game like the thrust jump, which improves the idea of technology because of how powerful the thrusters need to be to accompany the body weight of a

He stresses that video games are good for us because they improve so much more than just hand-eye coordination. Johnson begins his essay by showing us the different types of arguments that people make about video games. For example, he makes a reference from Andrew Solomon’s essay “The Closing of the American Book” in which Solomon claims that those who read books are more likely to succeed, and those that don’t are headed towards disaster and more likely to become insensitive (Johnson 482). Johnson also goes on to ask what would be said if video games came before books?…

For instance, playing a team sport helped me to learn communication, leadership, and responsibilities. One of the ways that I learned how to communicate was if I ever felt frustrated or angry on the field I would tighten my grip on my stick instead of saying something negative. This response mechanism helped me understand that by collecting my thoughts first, I would be speaking clearly and not out of frustration. Moreover, this came into play when I had to communicate to my coach and captains off the field in a respectful manner even if I had opposing views. This also related to my occupational role as a student because in the classroom I needed to converse with teachers and mentors.…

McClellan’s article (2005) reports that according to Johnson’s study, computer games are essentially brain exercises that holistically improves psychological fitness. This is because computer games require continuous focus, strategic decision-making, and creative thinking. Another form of display interface is video games which have also been found to improve these aspects. Video games are helpful with enhancing cognitive skills and they actively teach problem-solving and creative ways of thinking that can be used in everyday life. They are motivating and goal-oriented, and they can be designed in so many different ways and be geared toward all different kinds of subjects and materials. If a video game is complex and difficult and requires so much time and effort to beat it, why do children still play them? Because they enjoy playing and being challenged, and because they are driven by the goal of beating the game, which makes all their time and effort worth it. The education system needs to look at how they can incorporate educational video games into schools to help encourage children to learn. The rest of the world is all about technology, and it is time for schools and learning environments to get up to speed so that students can learn in the same ways they experience life outside of a classroom; surrounded by technology and…

Video games: Good or Bad? Since the last decade, video games – in the public eye - have been considered as a negative impact to our society.
