Because of this her family had less opportunities to move up , and the other Moore had less opportunities than someone whose parents had a college education, and understands the importance of education This explains why Marry is more complacent with Moore’s education than someone who has experienced the payoff of an education
Marry, and Joy both have very different styles of parenting Marry is passive, and it seemed like she let her oldest son act like more of a parent. She rarely threatens punishment, and when she does she never goes through with it, this says to the other Moore that he can do whatever he wants with no consequences to his actions. She engaged in drug use as well, so Moore has all these people around him telling him not to do drugs, but at the same time they themselves are doing drugs, so it just comes off as hypocritical. I think had Moore had a better family structure, and had she taken a bigger role in her son’s education, things would have turned out differently for him.
