Simply Fly is a remarkable story of G.R.Gopinath a village boy who’s journey through life, the challenges he faced, the ups and downs he experienced and the unbridled optimism with which he approached every event of his life.
The early part of this book talked about Gopinath’s childhood time which he spent in his native village Gorur. Then he moved to Sanik School in Bijapur and from there he finally joined National Defence Academy (NDA). After this he joined Indian Army and fought Bangladesh liberation war.
He quit the army and came back to his village. At that time he had no idea what to do for a living. At the same time government started building a dam on the Hemavathy River

One of his friend Captain K. J Samuel who worked as freelance pilot, suggested Capation Gopinath to do something with helicopters and after inspiration from Vietnamese girl he decided to start a helicopter company and Deccan Aviation was born in this way.
Caption Gopinath had to toil hard for two years to get no objection certificate from the government for his new company. He decided that we will not give bribe at any point of time. His experience convinced me that if anyone has will and he has decided to achieve it then no one can stop him from achieving that goal.
After the success of Deccan Aviation, Gopinath started low cost airline, Air Deccan. One positive thing at that time for him was that there was very little competition, but sector was notorious for its cut throat competition. People had perception that low cost model cannot work in India. But caption was determined to his business model and had a novel dream- to make the common man fly.
