Summary Of Modification Of My Daily Rituals

Improved Essays
Modification of My Daily Rituals is my interpretation of Stephen Guise’s book, Mini Habits, which discusses a more effective way of adhering to positive changes made in life. Mini habits are very small routines, usually derived from a larger routine that is difficult to maintain regularly. The book, mini Habits, gives rationale for going smaller, such as doing one sit up daily, as opposed to doing far more in one day. Is willpower better than motivation? Mini Habits also discusses the tools needed for maintaining a newly added, extremely small daily habits.

To Agree or Not to Agree
Sam Davies, the author of the book, Unhooked: How to Break Bad Habits, agrees with Stephen Guise’s, mini habits and he suggests that consumers should invest in this book and promises that the return would be far greater (Davies, 2015). I felt the same after reading the book. Davies pointed out that the typical problem for forming habits was consistency, which is the reason for creating smaller habits, to make your daily routine easier and simple in order to decrease the amount of willpower it takes to carry them out without feeling pressured. I initially made a list of things that I wanted to improve, then I downsized that list by more than half to come up with my own mini habits. A list of goals that I could do that would not make me cringe to think about. According to an article in the British Journal of General Practice, by multiple health professionals, they agreed with the formation of mini habits and also suggested educating patients in order to promote

When I initially began with mini habits, I had to tell myself to do the exercise before I slept, now it is as though my body leads me to do the exercise. I am very satisfied with the way I am feeling about myself because this is a major accomplishment for me.

It’s A Keeper
Adapting mini habits has, without a doubt, changed my life. Before reading Mini Habits, by Stephen
Guise, I was one of those people who struggled with the continuity of running and walking on a track, which is about 1.5 miles from my home, which I would drive to 4 days a week. I would walk 1 mile, then jog 1 mile.
During that time, I was highly motivated and I had loss weight. I was 30 pounds lighter than I m now. Then at some point, I lost the motivation, the drive, and the willpower to drive to the park, much less, run or walk.
Once, I actually drove to the park, sat in my vehicle for approximately 10 minutes, then drove home. I lost my desire to exercise, which had been working for me very well. That has been over 10 months ago. I had been struggling until now. The information from the book, Mini Habits, has changed my life and I am in this for the

Keeping track of the information throughout the 8-week long process was the most difficult part of the behavior change project. Throughout this process, I began to keep track of the amount of exercise I participated in each week, but then I became interested in comparing my weekly Fitbit data. After finding this information to be intriguing, I then began to compare my sleeping schedules over the weeks. Henceforth, I noticed a relationship between which days I exercise to the amount of sleep I acquired the night before. Overall, keeping track of the amount of exercise I completed on the treadmill was harder to me than actually completing the…

In order to change individual habits you need to understand how the Habit Loop works within our brain, which takes a three- step loop: the cue, the routine, and the reward. Williams James wrote in 1892 that most of the choices we make each day may feel like products of well-considered decision making but they’re not. They are actually habits. Habits can be as simple as how we order our meals, how often we exercise or even what we say to our children each night. It is essential to understand how our brain stores different functions, how habits emerge and how the Habit Loop works within our brain.…

I forced myself to stay on track when given class time to work on homework, which made a drastic difference in the amount of time I had once I arrived at home for exercising. One obstacle that I was not able to predict was the two-week-long visit from my aunt and her two children. During this time, we ate mostly unhealthy foods, and they stayed in the room that has the exercise equipment, preventing me from being able to use the treadmill or weight bench. I also regained the weight I had lost, as well as a few extra pounds. My two other obstacles concerned food, which was a major factor in my failure to reach my goal.…
