There was parts of the article when guns were mentioned. It said that with easy access to a gun, people have 140 times greater chance of having a successful suicide. This is because most people will have second thoughts before committing suicide, but with a gun, there is rarely a second chance. They said that a gun should be harder to get. Like having waiting periods or background checks. Many people agree with this but many don't. This issue on gun control has been debated over many times so it is definitely a political connection.
A scientific connection is how the article talks about the statistics on how many people do, do a second attempt in suicide. 1 in every 25 people will actually died at their second attempt. It also talks about how people, when they commit suicide are in a temporary state of mind. There are also different signs that were mentioned like people who abuse substances or people who have different behavior issues should be paid attention to.
