Two psychological symptoms victims and first responders sustain from suicide terrorist attacks include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and shock (Gelkopf, Solomon & Avraham Bleich, 2013). Suicide attacks are an effective means of terrorism because the attacker can get very close to the target without been noticed. If they are individuals loaded with explosives they can locate themselves in the middle of crowds and generate great damage. In the case of cars that are used for suicide attacks, the trunks can be loaded with large quantities of explosives that can destroy buildings and generate massive damage and kill dozens or even hundreds of people. These attacks are more effective than placing a bomb in a public place because the bomb…

Suicide. A word that makes me wonder, did a person start to think that there is a voice in the back of their mind that made their life go dark, that made them desperate to find an end to the torture and pain they are feeling. Suicide is a word that makes me ask, how a person could be selfish enough to think that is the only way to stop the pain and suffering. Does that person forget about their family when this dark voice takes over?…

Excerpt from my Politics 395 Independent Study, “Female Suicide Terrorism in Chechnya and Palestine: A Multi-Faceted Oppression.” Suicide bombings carried out by women constitute a relatively new phenomenon, though their numbers have increased in recent years, and they have proved to be more deadly than their male counterparts (as measured by the number of deaths and injuries). Between 1968 and 2012, somewhere between 256 and "more than 300" women carried out or attempted suicide bombing attacks. Female suicide terrorists from Chechnya and Palestine seem to receive more media attention, perhaps due to Russia's global power and the nature of international involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but there have also been female suicide…

Suicide bombers are also called homicide bombers. In the history of suicide bombing, people have been used by other people as a building block of their success and are thought and treated to be living tools (Lewis, 2013). They usually target places where there are numerous people and then blow themselves up, causing mass panic all over the world. This doesn’t happen on a daily basis, but this has become one of the biggest issues that the world is trying to resolve.…

According to the CDC, Females are 3 times more likely to attempt suicide than their male counterparts.(Suicide 15) This is an interesting statistic seemingly contrary to the previous statistic involving male suicide; however it is not contrary women will attempt suicide more often while men die from suicide. How can this be possible? Simple, men tend to choose more lethal forms of suicide, while women choose less lethal means. According to the World Health Organization, “Gender specific risk factors for common mental disorders that disproportionately affect women include gender based violence, socioeconomic disadvantage, low income and income inequality, low or subordinate social status and rank and unremitting responsibility for the care of others.”…

When you hear the phrase suicide bomber what do you imagine? Most people image a crazy lunatic blowing themselves up. Others imagine a religious militant group that carries out suicide attacks in order to fulfill their obligation to their political party or group. Some say suicide terrorism is the most aggressive form of terrorism, pursuing coercion even at the expense of losing support among the terrorists' own community. What distinguishes a suicide terrorist is that the attacker does not expect to survive a mission and often employs a method of attack that requires the attacker's death in order to succeed such as planting a car bomb, wearing a suicide vest, or ramming an airplane into a building ( Pape 2003, 345).…
