There was one part I felt was sad and upsetting. This particular scene started a domino effect of other sad scenes to come. In chapter nine, Zach goes to jail. Zach decides to go into town to get a radiator. There was some white men in front of the movie theater next to the store Zach was going into. These black boys started provoking the white men. After some time of provoking these white men, one of the black teenage boys throws a bottle at one of the white men. The police and white men are not sure who exactly threw the bottle, so takes Zach and the other black teenage boys to jail. This is a key event to many other things to come into the story. This is the cause of May's tragic suicide. She couldn't take hearing such tragic, life changing news, it set her off. I didn't particularly like this scene since this was a big turning point in the story and its domino effect of the rest of the story. I feel like instead of having an event cause May's suicide, it just came out of no where; that the reader of the books wasn't expecting it to happen. You, as a reader, can some what assume after the arrest of Zach, more tragedy is further to come. This also affected Lily since her and Zach had such a close bond, that they had feelings for each other. Lily felt like everything good was being taken away from
