Success with Hope Nowadays, there are a lot of struggles and difficult situations that we are facing on our way to success which can make us stop and give up without realizing the disadvantages of giving up,especially if we want to achieve our goals. For example, getting a degree in college, or getting a good job with a good salary can help us to build a good future ahead. Those who become successful in their lives are not the people who have good living conditions in their childhood. There are a lot of talented and skilled people who grew up in poor conditions with a lot of problems, but they keep going until they achieve their goals and make their future. The mentor is someone who teaches or gives help to a less experienced and often younger person. In Sam's life, he has two important mentors in his path to be a doctor. One of them was Ms.Sandi Schimmel, Sam’s sixth-grade teacher. She helped him to take an examination to apply to University High School, which is one of respected high school in the Newark school system and gave him a better chance to get into a college(Davis-38). The mentor from Ms.Sandi Schimmel pushed Sam on the right path to access a good education and be more focus in what he wanted to be even. At that time, Sam didn't want to go to University High School because most of his friend will go to different School. Sam learned from his teacher that he should be focused in right way to success in high school then college. In another example of a mentor in Sam's life was Carla Dickson. She was at Seton Hall University as student development specialist for Premedical /Pre-Dental plus program. She was in his life from the first time they met on the interview when she gave Sam hope to continue to succeed. Then she was on his side when he needed her. After Sam got accepted to Seton Hall University, where he started spending time in her office to ask Carla questions about his life and future. Sam always saw Carla as an "earth angel". She helped him to realize that his family and his life experience have made his …show more content…
It gave me a better way of thinking by not to give up that easily. I think it also adds a lot to the other readers in an effective way especially Sam's story was a very inspiring to me. Because he had gone through so many difficulties in his life, but he believed in himself. At the same time, Sam was able to accomplish his goal and became a doctor. Sam was the luckiest one, got an institutional support, and mentors. These three factors helped him in his path to success. This book shows us how to face our problems not to run away and give up especially if we live in very poor conditions we can use our skills and talents to achieve our goals in the future. Where there are hope and dreams there’s life and there is no life without dreams and
