When conducting assessments, it is important that counselors know how to explain the assessment in terms that the client can understand. In the case of Jane, the counselor should explain what the Strong interest is and why it is important. Whiston (2017) explained that the Strong interest is one of the most widely used interest assessments. With using this interest inventory, it would be important for the counselor to break down the components of the assessments concerning each category; which are General Occupational Themes, Basic Interest Scale, and Occupational Scale. Explaining each of these scales will allow for Jane to understand how these results are relevant and present in her life. The General Occupational Themes (GOTs) looks into …show more content…
It is used as a guide to help clients make a career decision. After carefully explaining how the process works, next it will be to interpret the results. Before interpreting the results counselors must consider the validly of the Strong interest report(Whinston,2017). Explaining the results are similar to explaining what the assessment is. When presenting these results, the counselor must be able to explain it in a way that the client can understand. Also, it will be important for the counselor to be knowledgeable of different resources that are linked. For instance, counselors must be knowledgeable of the different jobs that are linked to their personality. Career assessments are very useful and resourceful.
