Many parents will say that once teenagers are out of high school that the stress will begin, but little do they know that teenagers stress about school on a daily basis. Stress is the body’s reaction to harmful situations (Stress Symptoms). When the body feels threatened, a chemical reaction occurs in the body that allows it to react in a way to protect itself (Stress Symptoms). Students feel overwhelmed, they lose sleep, and get headaches from all of the hard work they put into their grades at school. From a recent study, more than a quarter (27%) say they experience “extreme stress” during the school year, 13% in the summer, and 34% expect stress to increase in the coming year (Jayson). Some teenagers have more stress to deal with than others, but every teen that has to deal with stress. Without stress, teenager’s lives would be too easy. Parents need to make sure they know what’s going on in their teen’s life so that way they can be there to support them through everything they encounter. There’s no way to get rid of stress completely, but tests say that there’s ways to minimize it.
