Reading was once a huge part of my life. I couldn’t read very well until second grade but it hooked me from then onward. I loved and still love fiction, fantasy, sci fi, and anything in between. I never felt that they required much effort on my part which has most definitely not helped me in the long run. The little revising I did do consisted of checking for spelling errors and repeated words. Also, I never did much to plan my papers; I just gathered some ideas and went from there. This lead to some of my previous writings seeming rather disjointed, although nowhere near incoherent. This is a point I hope to greatly improve upon.
Its hard for me to find any strengths in my writing because all I can see when I read my work is the flaws. I find it hard to to objectively analyze my own work because in a way I am picking myself apart. I would like to think that the ideas I present are clearly communicated and my sentence structure is not overly convoluted, but according to Pearson Writer my sentence structure is quite poor. I am optimistic that all my writing skills will improve after completing your class. In conclusion, I think of myself as an average writer with much room to improve.
