In the 2012 London Olympic Games, more than half of the athletes were disqualified for taking banned substances. They were caught taking drugs such as steroids and human growth hormone (HGH). Athletes should not dope because it ruins their career, as well as their bodies and the integrity of the sport that they play.
Performing enhancing drugs are any substance taken by athletes specifically to improve their athletic performance. There are many different performing enhancing drugs in sports such as anabolic steroids, andorostenedione, human growth hormone (HGH), erythropoietin, stimulants, etc. All of these substances have been banned by the NCAA.
Doping has been around since Ancient Greece. Specialist in Greece were described giving athletes “nutritional” supplements to enhance their athletic and physical ability. In addition, during the Olympic Games in the third century athletes tried to enhance their athletic ability by eating mushrooms also known as “shrooms”.

There are many organizations that have emerged to put a stop to doping in sports. For example, The World Anti-Doping Agency also known as WADA has a primary goal to bring consistency to anti-doping policies and regulations within sporting The National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) is a government based organization that tests all athletes in and out of competition. They also test international athletes that are testing within the nation’s (United States) borders. In addition, The Regional Anti-Doping Organization also known as RADO is an organization that was put in place to help anti-doping within a region such as Europe.
