When students get stereotyped it can affect they way they perform in something. Women always get stereotyped that they aren't capable of doing the same stuff men do or they can't do it as good. An example of this is all the fairy tales the kids read. The events that occur are similar, there is a princess or queen that is in danger and a prince comes and saves her. Samara Green wrote a whole article giving examples of women getting stereotyped and put down. Another example of girls being judged is by saying all women belong in the kitchen or to become housewives. Some people actually believe that girls should stay home and not have their own financial income. It's not just for girls, a stereotype that is the opposite is that saying all nurses should be women. These aren't true at all because any gender can be whatever they want, they shouldn't have a barrier or limit to what they can and can't do. If a man wants to be a nurse he shouldn't be judged, and if a woman wants to be a doctor or lawyer she should be able to do it without anyone looking at them differently. In the article, “What's in a (Muslim) Name?” written by Dilaria Hafiz, it says, “ granted, someone named "Mohammed” is probably a Muslim, just as "Mary” is probably a Catholic and "Dev" is likely a Hindu.” He also says that labeling people is nonsense because we can know people with a name that is different from the traditional name of that person's religion. Indians are the ones that mostly get labeled because of their last name. If someone has that last name “Singh” they are most likely to be an Indian. I know four people with that last name and there is always someone that asks if they are related to the other person with the same last name. It is because they are both Indian and have really traditional first names. I don't think this is as bad as most stereotypes. It's not wrong to just guess based on their name but it wouldn't be a good idea to say it out
