There are two very popular sci-fi stories that have been a part of our lives for years. They are very similar in a lot of ways. They are very different in a lot of ways. The name of these stories are Doctor Who and Star Wars. Doctor Who is a Sci-Fi TV show and Star Wars is a series of movies, but they are both stories. I will be comparing these stories and I also be contrasting these stories. As I said before, Doctor Who is a Sci-Fi TV show. The TV show first aired on November 23rd, 1963. It is a sci-fi TV show about an alien time traveler called a time lord from another planet called Gallifrey. The time lord calls himself The Doctor. This is the reason for the title of this show. Star Wars is a series of movies. Star Wars is generally about a “galaxy far, far, away” with advanced technology who make war in space. Specifically it is a story focused around a man named Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Anakin is part of a group called the Jedi Order. These Jedi have sworned to keep peace in these times of war. Jedi have the ability to harness an energy known as The Force. There are two sides to this Force. There is the light/good side and there is the dark/evil side. The Jedi who use the dark side are called Sith Lords. Anakin eventually turns to the dark side of The Force and becomes Darth Vader. This transformation was caused by a man named Palpatine. Palpatine was a Sith Lord in disguise who befriended Anakin and tricked him into becoming evil. Palpatine is also referred to as The Emperor. Darth Vader then rules the galaxy with an iron fist with The Emperor as the primary leader. Then Anakin’s children later grow up and defeat Darth Vader and The Emperor and revives Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars was created by a man named George Lucas. Each movie is called an episode, however, it is not a television show. This movie was called A New Hope. The Star Wars movies came out in trilogies or set of three. Then in 1980 the second movie came out. This movie was called The Empire Strikes Back. The third movie called Return of the Jedi, was released in 1983. This was the first trilogy of Star Wars movies. This trilogy focused around Anakin’s children as they fight to defeat Darth Vader and the rest of his minions. Then in 1999 George Lucas started a Prequel Trilogy. These three movies focused on how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. The first one was called The Phantom Menace. The second one in, released in 2002, was called Attack of the Clones. The third movie, released in 2005, was called Revenge of the Sith. Then in 2012, George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney. The new movie coming out in December 2015 will be directed be J.J.
