Standardized testing may cause students to be pressured to do well. For example, some students use drugs and cheat in order to pass the standardized tests (Armstrong). For example, it said that “of the two million-plus SAT tests taken in any given year, approximately 4000 are canceled because of suspected cheating,” according to Landgraf (schoolsofthoughblogs.cnn.com). Since students know that the test scores may affect what college they go to or what job they have in the future, they will do whatever they can to pass. For example, “Chinese schools are very good at preparing their students for standardized tests. For that reason, they fail to prepare them for higher education…” Xueqio, the principal of Peking University High School in China explained (Standardized Tests Improving Education). This has already happened to China, which is known for their great test scores, therefore it could easily also happen to the US. Also, this shows that these tests take the time away from teachers to teach students about the real world, since they are busy teaching about what would be on the standardized tests
