One event that occurred was the stamp act. The Stamp Act occurred in 1765 and was placed in the colonies by the British parliament. The act was used to raise revenue for Britain by putting taxes on all printed materials. The usage of stamps was required for all official documents, commercial writings, along with other various articles. Mercantilism is an economic policy that Britain used with the colonies. This meant that the colonies only existed only to benefit as well as enrich Great Britain. Britain made it so the colonies would only be able to trade with them, also Britain discarded all trades that existed between the colonies and all other foreign nations.
