Professional sports photographers usually work for newspapers, major agencies or sports magazines. However, sports photography can also be used for advertising purposes both to promote a brand and as well as to promote a sport.

Outdoor sports have long focus lenses with slower aperture. However, indoor sports tend to have shorter lenses but with faster apertures.

Location is important for sports photography. At big events, professional photographers have VIP spots with the best views of the game. Most sports require the photographer to react fast to the situation so they can prevent blurry images. Some sports photography is also done from a distance to give the picture a different emotion.
Shutter speed is important to catch motion objects/people ,therefore sports photography is often done in shutter priority mode . Most of the shoots taken have blur background but a crisp foreground , in which case a faster shutter speed is prefered, but in other cases a slower shutter speed is used so that blur is show, letting one see the motion, not simply the moment. A good technique to use is panning, which is made by having a fast shutter speed and panning the camera with the moving object/person. This will give the shoot the blur background and crisp
