Sports Injury: The Importance Of Safety In High School Football

It is said a typical high school football player receives 650 hits per season, and in 2014 that more than 9,500 concussions were reported among high school football players in the U.S. (16). At least 8 football players have died in 2014, according to the National Center for Sports Injury Research, but other factors may have also caused this than just football(16). This is about the dangers of sports injuries, and how we can keep this from happening so much. I think that football is the most dangerous sport out of all the sports that exist because out of all sports it causes the most concussions and other sports injuries, and that it is possible to make it safer so people don’t get injured so much.

several schools in Missouri, New Jersey, and Maine have done away with football because of safety concerns and low student interest (17). The sport can be dangerous for others, but fun to a lot of people but they still need to make safety measures for people are out in the field. The game is something that player do to help their team win, but I’m sure if they knew of the dangers of football they would keep a little easier and not do it later. Some of the things they could do would be to not make so many blows to the head, and to be a little more careful when maneuvering yourself around others.
