Freedom is a universal right that has been given to all people and the fight for freedom has been expressed by many in many different ways. One of the notable people that have expressed their want for freedom would be the Patrick Henry, speech “ Speech to the Virginia Convention” and Malcolm X “The Ballot or the Bullet” speech. Patrick Henry and Malcolm X are were two very different. Which both show examples of what want and fight for freedom in similar and different ways.
Patrick Henry's speech to the second Virginia convention in on March 23, 1775, at St. John church in Richmond, Virginia, which was used to urge Virginia into revolting against the English and to win our freedom against the English. Henry best persuade the audience on joining in on the voting of his side by saying, “ The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, same, when the transition to their rule may be concealed from them” (Henry 84). In the text citation, Henry tells the audience that they must not allow themselves to be held back and lied to keep away from the truth, and also the significance of freedom that he must to fight for freedom. Malcolm X speech The ballot or the bullet spoke out against the Race dominated agenda, That made it possible that black people had little to none say, in who should become elected in political offices. Even though both situations are on different sides of the spectrum, they both ultimately had the same goal. Patrick Henry and Malcolm X both had a strong want for freedom, even though the kind of freedom they were wanted was different. The idea of what freedom means is different to everyone, but at the end of the day, it’s just a matter of how far we are willing to go to get that freedom that we so dearly
