Speech On Police Brutality

The second speech I chose to critique was the male student’s speech on police brutality. This student’s main point in his speech was to argue enforcing regulations and training onto officers will and must stop police brutality. He was able to follow Monroe’s outline well while presenting his speech. In addition he used good examples of methods that can be used to prevent future police brutality. For example, he stated police officers should be forced to wear body cameras, and given proper training on a regular basis. These examples contributed to the student’s persuasive visualization step. Furthermore, the student gave an excellent call to action step. He talked about what organizations here in Fresno us students can become apart of in order

Police Brutality, what sort of thoughts and feelings do you get when you hear those words? Can you believe those to words shake an entire community. To me, those are two words that shouldn’t even be uttered in the same sentence but here we are; he we are in America, the home of the free, yet we’re still fighting for our freedom. Being an African American in America isn’t easy, especially when those who are here to help us, harm us. Especially when our voices haven’t been heard, after decades.…

An audience consisting of police officers, loved ones of police officers, sisters, brothers, uncles, husbands and wives that have ever encountered a police officer, whether on good or bad terms. My idea audience needs to be informed that “winter is coming” and why lines have been drawn and sides have been taken as far as the police and public are concerned. I feel that it’s important for my audience to understand that one day, one of their loved ones whether a police officer or friend, could very well be a headline in the news. In the news, not because they won the lottery, but because the officer that they knew allegedly killed an unarmed victim. Or better yet, that friend that they once knew is now that alleged unarmed victim.…

In today’s time the biggest trend watching news or articles online that deal with police brutality, and how the police is abusing their power as an officer. Police are here to protect us and making us feel safe, but the things that are going around the news and article are only making things worse by making the people fear the police. Cops should be trained to handle a response better rather than take their anger out or think that they can do anything just because they work for the law. The good thing is that many people are uniting together to fight over police brutality and making a difference to over throw the ones who abuse their power, letting the better cops who knows when to use their power for good or very difficult situations. Police brutality is become a bigger to the people who don’t…

Allan Geary Mr.Murphy 7 January, 2015 Police Brutality in America In result of the recent events and heavy media coverage like the case of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, the controversy of excessive force and police brutality has become more renown than ever before. The use of excessive force by police officers has been growing despite the protection offered in the Constitution for citizens against such drastic measures. The term “Police Brutality” and what it encompases appears to have a varying definition with the justice system. Police Brutality is formally defined as the “wanton use of excessive force, usually physical, but also common in forms of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation, by a police officer.”…

Being a police officer comes with great responsibilities. They are expected to maintain law and order, protect the lives of citizens, reduce fear of crime and most importantly prevent crime. But in the past few years, it seems as if they’re the ones putting fellow citizens in fear. Police brutality isn’t a topic you frequently hear about, but the times we do it’s nothing short of a serious problem. I’m not sure if it’s to do with race or just about the law enforcement agencies believing they can abuse the power that is a privilege to them.…

Hey all I know I'm a little late but if you'll allow me, I'd like to chime in for just a sec. First, I'd like to comment about the loophole. Bill Troxelll, I'm not sure exactly which state you live in but if you don't live in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Rhode Island then you can LEGALLY sell your privately owned firearm to another private citizen WITHOUT needing that person to pass a background check. Of course, it should be noted that if that person is a felon and you know that, you'd be guilty of committing a crime known as a "straw purchase" (a felony).…

In order to make the world a better place I would like to see less police brutality through stricter laws in government, a change in the way police are trained, and deeper investigation in issues of police brutality. Police brutality should be lessened because police are meant to be there to protect a community; however, the people being targeted by brutal police tactics, such as racial minorities, feel less safe due to the actions of the police and their abuse of power. This abuse includes taking advantage of someone, manipulation, an unfair gain of benefits for the police, assault, and physical or verbal maltreatment towards people. This should be handled because the only way to restore trust in our enforcement system is if we feel as though…

Police brutality and racism seem to be consistently connected to one another. This has become a serious issue in which circumstances have ended violently or even fatally when involving police officers and African American citizens. In 2014, the United States Census Bureau reported that African American people make up only 13.2% of our population. Anyone can become a victim of police brutality, regardless of their race; but statistics show that African American people are being killed by police at more than twice the rate of Caucasian and Hispanic people. It is also considerably more likely for the African American victims in these situations to have been unarmed at their time of death.…

The aim of this research is to provide insight regarding the research question and a contribution on how to solve these societal issues to create a better community. Between the years 2014 and 2015, police violence in the U.S. “generated a national conversation about the nature of America's law enforcement” (Wang 2015, 1). The lives of residents are often not valued. Unfortunately, “no other country in the world imprisons so many of its racial or ethnic minorities” than the U.S. (McCoy 2014, 6). Police misconduct and violence are only symptoms of a larger societal issue: institutionalized racism in the police force.…

Throughout history, African Americans, as a group, endure various forms of brutality. Long ago in the United States, entire towns would capture innocent African Americans and kill them in mobs. This horrendous act is known as lynching. Now, while African American brutality exists on a smaller scale than it used to, it still occurs in exorbitant amounts. One of the most infamous cases of police brutality against a black person was that of Rodney King.…
