This had an effect on the natives since it changed their way of living, their cultural practices, social life and diminished their beliefs in their native gods. They also had a religious aim in their conquest where they aimed in the spreading of Christianity. De Las Casas was a famous social reformer and historian of the 16th century who advocated for the abolishment in the slave trade. He was a religious man too, and the first ordained priest in America.
The European expansion had a lot of effects. The Spaniard conquest was one of the major conquest which occurred in America and it resulted in a clash between the Spaniards and the Native Americans. The conquest of the Spaniards caused many things to the Native Americans. The Spaniards butchered the Native Americans in search of gold and their money. Every nation had taken colonies and this reduced the economic opportunity of the old world. The Spaniard conquest of the Americas reduced the economic opportunities since they took most of the gold belonging to the natives for themselves according to De las Casas.
Technological advancement was another factor which came along with European expansion. The sailors build faster ships in order to sail in deep waters. They also build better navigation tools with the north and south magnetic compass design. This led to the discovery of new lands faster than anticipated. More accurate compasses were which facilitated the navigation to new lands formed. The Spaniards were in the spotlight since they build better compasses and that made them discover the America. The sailors of the west learned more about geography and used the knowledge of longitudes, latitudes to find new places. The first people to start the exploration were the Portuguese where they first moved around Africa and build a fortress in West Africa and many of the Portuguese made Africa their home. They build plantations and trading posts in West Africa. Prince Henry the navigator build a navigation school in Sagres which made new sailors equipped with new sailing and navigation knowledge. He navigated to Africa through cape Bojador and build a fortress in West Africa. The Portuguese were the first people to discover the sea route to India. They made many stops on the way to discover the sea route to India. Bartholomew Diaz travelled to the cape of good hope where he stopped in 1488.that was a new discovery for him and facilitated a room for more sailors to try the circumnavigation in order to find new routes to India to build on Bartholomew Diaz, Vasco Da Gama discovered the sea route to India through East Africa in 1497-1499. He built a port in Kenya and structured a fortress in Kenya and named it Fort Jesus. The Asian maritime trade existed in between the south Asian countries, China, India and the Middle East. This trade existed in the 3rd and the 4th millennia BCE. This trade was known by the Indian and the Chinese people and existed with the help of the monsoon winds. They depended on the winds which sailed their ships. Later on, due to the change of the monsoon winds, it resulted in the discovery of new areas and new discoveries like the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. There existed a line of demarcation which was established to prevent disputes over the new discovered land in America. This imaginary line was drawn north to the south of the Atlantic Ocean. Spain was given the western side of that land and Portugal was given the
