It is important a business uphold these characteristics for a bigger return from employees and consumers. In my previous class we spoke of servant leadership, which is the model Southwest Airlines instill in their company. This philosophy puts the employees and customers first to bring a bigger return to shareholders.
By definition of conscious leadership is putting a leader as a follower, therefore the leader must understand themselves in how they would want their followers to exhibit themselves. Emotional intelligence (EI) is very important in self-leadership. Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage oneself and one’s relationship in a mature and constructive way. The definition shows that it is one’s self ability to lead and manage their life and goals. In order to manage your own life goals, one must follow the importance of the four dimensions of EI (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management). Self-awareness allows one to understand their strength and weaknesses in managing themselves. If one is not sure of their weaknesses their strengths are non-existent. We all have ideas of the type of people we “think” we are, but when you take an assessment full of questions and see your results you get an overall view of the person you are. For personal and professional reasons this assessment has helped me determined which direction I can go as a person and as a leader. It really answered many questions I had about myself and why I think the way I do and act the way I do. As stated in prior in my paper understanding myself as a leader is the key to becoming an effective leader. The assessments are mere frameworks to follow when leading my team. The results of the assessments explained my attitude and why I have the values I have. With these results it will be the framework of how I live life and lead a team of people. I understand who I am, so therefore I can see what I expect from my
