Social Injustice In Social Work

This group was a small discussion group facilitated by Ellen and myself. The purpose of this task group was to get opinions from the members about our topic. We carefully planned the structure for the group discussion by creating a nonthreatening environment, which allowed the members to feel free to talk openly and give their opinions. We encouraged the participants to engage in the conversation with the other members and facilitators. I felt we were structured and directed but also allowed expression from the members. I felt we got a lot of information in such a short amount of time. We thanked the members for coming and expressed that, we were conscious of their time. We reviewed the goal of the meeting and gave each member an agenda. Although we did not set ground rules, we did encouraged open participation. Ellen asked several open ended questions, which everyone participated in the conversations. I felt we did a good job of letting everyone be heard, summarizing, asked if anyone had any questions, follow-up questions, eye contact, and nodding. It is our …show more content…
Social justice I should be able to challenge social injustice and engaging in this activity shows my commitment. Dignity and worth of the person I believe I showed this to each member by acknowledging them and their opinions. Importance of human relationships this is shown during this group by engaging others as partners in the helping process by asking the members what they would like to do to help. Maintaining Integrity is important in order for everyone to trust you, which I feel I did during this group. Finally, competence I feel this was done during our group by bringing an example of the product, I felt having a visual helped the members see what we were trying to accomplish (PB: make ethical decisions by applying standards of the NASW Code of
