Gratitude is conceptualized as moral affect that is alike to other moral emotions such as empathy and guilt. The personality and social factors that are linked with gratitude are also constant with a conceptualization of gratitude as an affect that is applicable to people's cognitions and behaviors in the moral domain (McCullough, 2001).
The dispositional rank, gratitude is element of a wide life direction towards noticing and appreciating the positive in the world. This life direction should be dissimilar from other emotions such as optimism, hope, and trust. At the equal instance as these may grip life orientations, these would not routinely be towards perceiving and appreciating the positive in life (Geraghty, Wood, & Hyland, 2010). Verification for this wider conceptualization of gratitude is provided and tested whether a sole upper array factor existed above different scales assessing gratitude and appreciation (Wood, Maltby, Stewart, & Joseph, 2008). Considerable effort has focused on explaining the relationships among trait and state levels of emotions and cognitive propensities. People to be far above the ground on the life orientation if they experience the eight aspects of gratitude regularly, strongly, and through a wide range of drawing stimuli (McCullough et al., 2002). Undoubtedly, each of the eight aspects of gratitude can also be experienced on a state point, and how and why trait and state level of gratitude interrelate is a significant area of study.
